Random Writing Quote:

“Writing simply means no dependent clauses, no dangling things, no flashbacks, and keeping the subject near the predicate. We throw in as many fresh words we can get away with. Simple, short sentences don't always work. You have to do tricks with pacing, alternate long sentences with short, to keep it vital and alive.... Virtually every page is a cliffhanger--you've got to force them to turn it.”

Polly Dunn writes non-fiction for her day job and has been published in professional magazines.  She has fun writing humor and short stories.  She used to think that she had a novel in her, but has since decided that it is probably just leaking out one short story at a time.  She has been a member of the SCWA since 2003 and likes to tell new members that she just attends meetings for the lunch.  She does love the lunches, but loves her fellow members and writing even more.
