Random Writing Quote:
“The good writers touch life often. The mediocre ones run a quick hand over her. The bad ones rape her and leave her for the flies.”
Member info for Mark Silverstein
Mark Silverstein grew up in Milwaukee. He blames beer, pretzels and rock and roll--particularly a Thanksgiving Day concert in 1964 by the Rolling Stones--for his skewed view of the world. His interest in writing dates back to when he discovered a well crafted story received a better grade in U.S. History than one with all the correct facts. Despite his growing love of all things Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Roth and Salinger--a short-lived college roommate claimed to be Seymour Glass incarnate--he followed his parents advice and developed a career to fall back on. Now, after 30 years of falling back on teaching he's retired and moving forward as a writer. He recently completed his first novel, Fermentation--about the next great American filmmaker being stuck in Milwaukee and how he and his friends find their way out.
